- STAKES promotes the welfare and health of the population and develops social and health services.
STAKES assesses changes affecting welfare and health, evaluates the outcomes of welfare policy and brings forth new alternatives. Together with its national and international partners, it strengthens welfare expertise in Finland.
STAKES is a sector research institute under the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. Its core functions are research, development and information production. It also supports the Ministry in implementing the strategy of the administrative branch.
